Unit 15 - Jobs and Workplaces

Let’s start at front office (ဧည့္ႀကိဳ႐ံုးခန္းမွစၾကပါစို႔)

Hotel manager:  Here’s front office. This is Louise, our reception manager.

Observer: Hello.

Louise: Hello.

Hotel manager: Louie is responsible for six staff, a cashier, two receptionists, a reservation clerk and two porters. In reception they handle all the reservations, arrivals, payments and departures. And there’s always a receptionist to deal with any questions or requests.

Observer: What about the phone calls?

Hotel manager: Yes, phone calls too. That’s the phone area over there. If guests want services like laundry or dry cleaning, front office staff tells the housekeeper. She’s responsible to the assistant manager.

Observer: Is there much computer work?

Hotel manager: Yes, these are the computers and those are the printers over there. All reservations, check-ins, payments and in-room services are processed on these. We use Fidelio system.

Observer: Oh, I see.

Hotel manager: We also use the savers system for travel arrangement as most travel agencies use this system. So, everybody here is trained on these systems.

 

ေလ့လာထားရမည့္ expression မ်ား

Here’s front office. This is Louise, our reception manager. ေဟာဒါ ဧည့္ႀကိဳေကာင္တာပါ။ သူကေတာ့ လူ၀ီပါ။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ရဲ႕ဧည့္ႀကိဳမန္ေနဂ်ာပါ။

Louise is responsible for six staff. လူ၀ီက ၀န္ထမ္းေျခာက္ေယာက္တာ၀န္ယူအုပ္ခ်ဳပ္ပါတယ္။

In reception they handle all the reservations. ဧည့္ႀကိဳဌာနမွာ အခန္းႀကိဳမွာတာအားလံုးကို လက္ခံပါတယ္။

And there’s always a receptionist to deal with any questions. ဧည့္သည္ေတြရဲ႕ေမးခြန္းေတြေျဖၾကားေပးဖို႔ ဧည့္ႀကိဳစာေရးတစ္ေယာက္အၿမဲရွိပါတယ္။

That’s the phone area over there. ဟိုဘက္မွာေတာ့ ဖံုးေတြလက္ခံေျဖၾကားတဲ့ေနရာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

Everybody here is trained on these systems. ဒီမွာရွိတဲ့၀န္ထမ္းတိုင္းကို ဒီကြန္ပ်ဴတာစံနစ္ေတြ သံုးႏိုင္ေအာင္ေလ့က်င့္ေပးထားပါတယ္။

dry cleaning = အ၀တ္အထည္တို႔ကို ေရမသံုးဘဲ ဓါတုပစၥည္းမ်ားသံုး၍ေလွ်ာ္သည္

Manager on Duty (MOD) = တာ၀န္က်မန္ေနဂ်ာ

front office = ဧည့္ႀကိဳဌာန

pastry = မုန္႔၊ မုန္႔ဖုတ္သည့္ဌာန

payment = ေငြေပးေခ်ျခင္း

process (v) = (လုပ္ငန္းစဥ္တစ္ခုခု)ေဆာင္ရြက္သည္။

refrigerator = ေရခဲေသတၱာ

rubbish = အမႈိက္

sharpen = ခၽြန္သည္။

side order = အရန္ဟင္း

station (work) = အလုပ္ဌာန

toaster = ေပါင္မုန္႔မီးကင္စက္

travel arrangement = ခရီးသြားအစီအစဥ္
