ယဥ္ေက်းစြာေတာင္းပန္ျခင္း၊ ရွင္းျပျခင္း၊ နဲ႔ be, do, can တို႔ရဲ႕ present simple short form ေတြကိုအရင္သင္ခန္းစာမွာေလ့လာခဲ့ၾကၿပီးျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ဒီေန႔သင္ခန္းစာကေတာ့ Receiving Guests ဧည့္သည္လက္ခံျခင္းပဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ဟိုတယ္တစ္ခုကိုဧည့္သည္ေရာက္လာ တဲ့အခါႀကိဳဆိုလက္ခံတာနဲ႔ပတ္သက္တဲ့ အဂၤလိပ္စာအသံုးအႏႈန္းေတြေလ့လာရပါမယ္။

Checking into a Hotel

Staff  :         Good afternoon sir. Can I help you?

Guest :         Good afternoon. My name is Rodrigues. I’d like to check in please.

                   I have a reservation for a double room.

Staff  :         Yes, Mr. Rodrigues, let me see… Yes, today and tomorrow, the 10th and 11th of June.

                   Could you please fill in this registration card?

Guest :         Yes of course. Do I fill in my home address?

Staff  :         Yes, please and could I have your passport? Thank you. Your room

                   number is 361. It’s on the third floor and here’s your key card for

 your room. Would you like to have dinner in the restaurant this evening?

Guest :         Yes, please. Can you reserve me a table for 2 at 8 o’clock?

Staff   :        Certainly. The porter will help you with your luggage. The lift is just down the corner.

Check in ဆိုတာ ဟိုတယ္၊ ေလဆိပ္ စတာေတြမွာ ဧည့္ႀကိဳစာေရး ရဲ႕ ေကာင္တာမွာေရာက္ရွိေၾကာင္း သတင္းပို႔ျခင္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ Check in လုပ္တာနဲ႔တၿပိဳင္နက္လိုအပ္တဲ့အခ်က္အလက္မ်ားကို register လုပ္တဲ့အတြက္ ၿခံဳၿပီးေျပာရရင္ အခန္းရယူျခင္း၊ ဟိုတယ္မွာစတည္းျခင္းလို႔ေျပာႏုိင္ပါတယ္။ ဟိုတယ္မွာ က်သင့္ေငြရွင္းၿပီး အခန္းျပန္အပ္တာကိုေတာ့ Check out လုပ္တယ္လို႔သံုးပါတယ္။ ဧည့္သည္အမ်ိဳးအစားေတြေျပာရရင္ FIT (Free Independent Traveler) နဲ႔ Group ဆိုၿပီးအႀကမ္းဖ်င္းခြဲျခားႏိုင္ပါတယ္။ Group ကခရီးသြားကုမၸဏီေတြကေန package tour အေနန႔ဲလာတာေတြလဲရွိပါတယ္။ Company Guaranteed rate (CGR)၊ Group inclusive tour (GIT) ဆိုတာေတြလည္းရွိပါတယ္။ တစ္ရာသီစာ ဟိုတယ္ႏွင့္ကုမၸဏီမ်ားၾကား contract rate နဲ႔ စာခ်ဳပ္ခ်ဳပ္ထားေလ့ ရွိပါတယ္။ အမ်ားစုကႀကိဳတင္ reservation လုပ္ထား ေလ့ရွိပါတယ္။ ႀကိဳတင္ reservation မလုပ္ထားဘဲသူ႔ဘာသာ ၀င္လာတဲ့ဧည့္သည္ကို Walk in guest လို႔ေခၚပါတယ္။

ေလ့လာထားရမည့္ expression မ်ား

  • Could you please fill in this registration card? ဒီမွတ္ပံုတင္စာရင္းကတ္မွာလိုအပ္တာျဖည့္ေပးႏိုင္မလားရွင္။
  • Your room number is 361. It’s on the third floor. လူႀကီးမင္းအခန္းနံပါတ္က 361 ပါ။ တတိယထပ္မွာရွိပါတယ္။
  • Here’s your key card for your room.  ေဟာဒီမွာလူႀကီးမင္းရဲ႕အခန္းေသာ့ကတ္ပါ။
  • Would you like to have dinner in the restaurant this evening? ဒီညေနစားေသာက္ဆိုင္မွာညစာစားမလားရွင္။
  • Can you reserve me a table for 2 at 8 o’clock? ညေန ၈ နာရီမွာ ႏွစ္ေယာက္စာစားပြဲတစ္လံုးကၽြန္ေတာ့္ကိုမွာထားေပးႏိုင္မလား။

ေလ့လာထားရမည့္ေ၀ါဟာရမ်ား

  • hair salon = ဆံပင္ညွပ္ဆိုင္
  • lobby = ဟိုတယ္အ၀င္၀ရွိ ဧည့္သည္မ်ားနားေနရန္အခန္းက်ယ္
  • lounge =  ဧည့္သည္မ်ားနားေနခန္း
  • reception desk = ဧည့္ႀကိဳေကာင္တာ
  • home address = အိမ္လိပ္စာ
  • luggage(US baggage) = ခရီးေဆာင္အိပ္
  • porter = ပစၥည္းသယ္ပိုးေပးသည့္အကူ၀န္ထမ္း

ဒီေနရာမွာ ဟိုတယ္ေတြမွာသံုးတဲ့ terminology တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ကိုေျပာျပခ်င္ပါတယ္။ porter, bellboy, bellhop ဆိုတာေတြကို တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ေနရာေတြမွာ အလဲအလွယ္အျဖစ္အသံုးျပဳေနၾကပါတယ္။ bellhop ဆိုတဲ့ေ၀ါဟာရျဖစ္ေပၚလာပံုက ဟိုးအရင္တံုးက ဟိုတယ္ေတြမွာ တစ္ခုခုသယ္ဖို႔ျပဳဖို႔၊ ခုိင္းဖို႔ ေခါင္းေလာင္းတီးလိုက္ရင္ သတ္မွတ္ထားတဲ့၀န္ထမ္းကေရာက္လာရပါတယ္။ ဒါေၾကာင့္မလို႔ သူ႔ကို bellhop, bellboy လို႔ေခၚၾကပါတယ္။ ေနာက္ concierge ဆိုတာလည္းရွိပါေသးတယ္။ သူ႔ကို

(1) a facility staff who provides special services such as tickets to local events, transportation, and tour arrangement

(2) designated area in hotel facility providing special amenities and services to guests.

လို႔အဓိပၸါယ္ဖြင့္ထားေတာ့ ဧည့္သည္ကို အထူးကိစၥေတြမွာ၀န္ေဆာင္မႈေပးတဲ့၀န္ထမ္းလို႔ ဆိုႏိုင္ပါတယ္။ ကားပါကင္ထိုးေပးတဲ့၀န္ထမ္းကိုက်ေတာ့ valet လို႔ေခၚပါတယ္။ အေခၚအေ၀ၚနဲ႔လုပ္ရတဲ့တာ၀န္အတိအက်ေတြဟာ ဟိုတယ္တစ္ခုႏွင့္တစ္ခုျခားနားမႈရွိႏိုင္ပါတယ္။

ပိုင္ဆိုင္မႈကိုျပရာမွာပံုစံႏွစ္မ်ိဳးနဲ႔ေျပာႏိုင္ပါတယ္။ possessive adjectives နဲ႔ possessive pronouns ေတြကိုသံုးျခင္းကိုကြဲကြဲျပားျပားသိဖို႔လိုပါတယ္။ သူတို႔ဟာ၀ါက်မွာေနရာယူပံုမတူပါဘူး။ ေအာက္မွာေလ့လာၾကည့္ပါ။
