Stonestep is a growing insurtech company which provides new insurance and assistance products designed for the mass- and micro- customers via partners, including microfinance organizations, mobile network operators, mobile money, retailers, and others.


We are looking for a Program Manager to lead project management for a project developed in partnership with an international NGO and funded by an overseas governmental donor agency. The position reports directly to the Myanmar Country Manager, but will also  be expected to work closely with Stonestep Group and Regional CEOs, Finance Manager and other stakeholders.


The Program Manager  will manage implementation of a 2-year project “Microinsurance Market Development” according to the approved project plan and budget. The right candidate will display the confidence and experience to handle various stakeholders such as NGOs, government and commercial partners.


This position provides a unique opportunity in an early-stage company to grow with an experienced team which deploys new technologies, and works to do things differently for lasting benefit to customers.


  • Responsible for the overall integrity and coherence of the program “Microinsurance Market Development”
  • Be the main contact and ensure regular reporting and smooth cooperating with:
    • Implementation partner NGO
    • Grant funding organization
    • Grant management team
    • Stonestep regional and HQ management (Regional/Group CEOs, Country Manager etc.)
    • Finance and Accounting Manager
    • Other key project stakeholders
  • Hire, train and oversee delivery against objectives of dedicated staff
    • Ensure the local team is successfully delivering on their objectives
  • Manage inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising
  • Be involved in and responsible for the delivery of specific project deliveries, such as
    • Customer needs analysis
    • Product development
    • Process integration with partner organizations
    • Training Stonestep staff and partner’s agents on the ground
    • Sales and marketing activities including financial education and awareness building
    • Product piloting
    • New distribution channel development
    • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Be involved in and responsible for the delivery of regulatory sandbox project
  • Basic financial management activities, including budget management, reporting
    • Prepare quarterly and annual project reports for donor funding agency
  • Manage outstanding contracting and reporting with all partners and vendors


  • Entrepreneurial & energetic. Experience in planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks

  • Management: Prioritize objectives and help the team achieve its full potential

  • Bring a can-do attitude and hands-on approach to the daily operations; agility and taking ownership is expected
  • Travel required: ~10%, mainly to/within Asia


  • Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university (required) in the field of Business Administration, International Development or Project Management (preferred). Additional study (e.g., MBA) in a related field is a big plus
  • 7+ years of total working experience out of which 5+ years preferably management experience in the field of development programs or in business project management
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and understand staff and stakeholders in a multicultural context
  • Strong attention to detail, with focus on stakeholder management
  • Local market experience is crucial
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English required. (Burmese is a strong advantage)
  • SE Asia experience is an advantage
