အသံုးဝင္ေသာ အဂၤလိပ္စကားအသံုးအႏႈန္းမ်ား (Right enough/Great/Good heavens/Don't get your hopes up/Any luck)

Right enough (ဟုတ္ပါ႔)

You say right enough when you are agreeing with someone:
ဟုတ္ပါ႔ (right enough) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ဦးႏွင့္သေဘာထားတူညီပါက အသံုးျပဳသည္။

  • 'Sue looks a bit like Jack's wife.
    Sue က Jack ရဲ႕အမ်ိဳးသမီးနဲ႔ရုပ္ခ်င္းဆင္တယ္။
    '
    Right enough!
    She does.'
    ဟုတ္ပါ႔။
    တူတယ္ေနာ္။
  • 'It's Sunday and so the city should be reasonably quiet.'
    ဒီေန႔တနဂၤေႏြေန႔ ဆိုေတာ႔ ၿမိဳ႕ဟာအသင္႔အတင္႔ေတာ႔တိတ္ဆိတ္သင္႔တာေပါ႔။

    'Right enough!'

    ဟုတ္ပါ႔။

 

Great! (ေကာင္းတာေပါ့၊ ေကာင္းလိုက္တာ)

You say great! when you are very pleased about something:
ေကာင္းတာေပါ့ ၊ ေကာင္းလိုက္တာ (great!) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ခုႏွင့္ပတ္သက္၍ အလြန္သေဘာက် ႏွစ္သက္သည့္အခါတြင္ ေျပာသည္။

 

  • 'I can give you a lift to the match tomorrow night, if you want.'
    လိုအပ္ရင္မနက္ျဖန္ည ျပိဳင္ပြဲကိုကားၾကံဳေခၚသြားေပးမယ္ေလ။
    'Great!
    Thanks a lot!'
    ေကာင္းတာေပါ့။ ေက်းဇူးတင္ပါတယ္။
  • 'We would like to offer you the job.'
    မင္းကိုအလုပ္ခန္႔ခ်င္ပါတယ္။
    'Great!
    When can I start?
    ေကာင္းလိုက္တာ။
    ဘယ္ေတာ့စရမလဲ။

 

You can also use great! ironically to mean that you are not at all pleased about something:

ေကာင္းတာေပါ့ ၊ ေကာင္းလိုက္တာ (great!) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ခုႏွင့္ပတ္သက္၍ လံုး၀မႏွစ္သက္သည့္အခါတြင္ ရြဲ႕ေျပာသည့္အေနျဖင့္ သံုးႏိုင္သည္။

  • Great! It's raining heavily and I don't have an umbrella.
    ေကာင္းလိုက္တာ။
    မိုးကရြာေနတယ္။ ငါကထီ။မပါဘူး။

 

Good heavens! (ျမတ္စြာဘုရား)

You use good heavens! when you are very surprised, shocked or annoyed by something:

ျမတ္စြာဘုရား (good heavens!) တစ္စံုတစ္ရာႏွင့္ပတ္သက္၍ အံ့ၾသျခင္း၊ ထိတ္လန္႔ျခင္း (သို႔) စိတ္အေႏွာင့္အယွက္ ျဖစ္သည့္အခါတြင္ သံုးႏိုင္သည္။

  • Good heavens! What was that terrible noise!
    ျမတ္စြာဘုရား။
    အဲ့ဒီေၾကာက္ဖုိ႔ေကာင္းတဲ့အသံက ဘာသံၾကီးလဲ။
  • Good heavens! I didn't recognize you with blonde hair.
    ျမတ္စြာဘုရား၊
    နင့္ကို ေရႊေရာင္ဆံပင္နဲ႔ မွတ္ေတာင္မမွတ္မိဘူး။

 

You can use heavens! in the same way:

ဘုရားေရ (heavens!) ကိုလည္း အလားတူသံုးႏုိင္သည္။

 

  • Heavens! I must run! The bakery will be closed in a few minutes.
    ဘုရားေရ။
    ငါေျပးမွပဲ။ ေပါင္မုန္႔ဆိုင္က ေနာက္မိနစ္အနည္းငယ္ဆို ပိတ္ေတာ့မယ္။

 

Don't get your hopes up (သိပ္လည္းေမွ်ာ္လင့္မေနနဲ႔ဦး)

You say don't get your hopes up when you are warning someone not to be very hopeful or optimistic:

သိပ္လည္းေမွ်ာ္လင့္မေနနဲ႕ဦး (don't get your hopes up) ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ေယာက္အား သိပ္မေမွ်ာ္လင့္ (သို႔) အေကာင္းျမင္မေနရန္ သတိေပးသည့္အခါတြင္သံုးသည္။

  • I'll see if I can get you a ticket for the concert, but don't get your hopes up. There were very few left yesterday.
    မင္းအတြက္ ေဖ်ာ္ေျဖပြဲ လက္မွတ္ရႏုိင္မလားၾကည့္လိုက္ဦးမယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ သိပ္လည္းေမွ်ာ္လင့္မေနနဲ႔ဦး။ မေန႔ကေတာင္ နည္းနည္းပဲက်န္ေတာ့တာ။
  • Dad might lend you the money for your trip but don't get your hopes up. His business isn't doing very well just now.
    အေဖက မင္းကိုခရီးအတြက္ ပိုက္ဆံေခ်းရင္ ေခ်းမွာေပါ။့ ဒါေပမယ့္ သိပ္လည္းေမွ်ာ္လင့္မေနနဲ႔ဦး။ သူ႔စီးပြားေရးက အခုတစ္ေလာ သိပ္ေကာင္းတာမဟုတ္ဘူး။

 

Any luck? (…………ရဲ႔လား)

You say any luck? when you want to find out if someone has been successful at something:

………ရဲ႔လား(…..any luck)ကို တစ္စံုတစ္ေယာက္က ကိစၥတစ္ခုခုကိုေဆာင္ရြက္ရာတြင္ ေအာင္ျမင္မႈ ရွိမရွိ ကိုသိလိုေသာအခါ အသံုးျပဳသည္။

  • 'I've been looking for my lost keys.' 'Any luck?'
    ငါ ေသာ႔ေပ်ာက္လို႔ လိုက္ရွာေနတာ။ ေတြ႕ရဲ႕လား။
  • 'I've been trying to find a flat to rent' 'Any luck?'
    ငါ ငွားဖို႕တိုက္ခန္း လိုက္ရွာေနတာ။ ေတြ႕ရဲ႕လား။
