Overall Objectives (scope)

The livelihoods coordinator will be responsible for the planning, administration and monitoring of all aspects of RI’s livelihoods activities in Mrauk U township, through leading, organizing and supervising the work of the respective project staff, consultants and partner organisations, and collaborating closely with a range of local stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities

The livelihoods coordinator will have the following specific responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance for the planning and implementation of Relief International’s vocational and entrepreneurship training, and micro-credit scheme.
  • Develop and oversee robust systems and processes for project planning, reporting, monitoring and evaluation in the livelihoods sector;
  • Conduct regular field visits to selected communities in Mrauk U Township to identify livelihood needs, and to support the implementation of livelihoods activities;

 

  • Provide ongoing supervision, couching and guidance to the RI livelihoods team, including developing activity plans with individual staff/teams and measuring progress against these plans; 
  • Attend State and township level coordination meetings. Establish and maintain close working relations with the respective State, District and township authorities, and with local and international humanitarian/development organizations;
  • Draft reports on Relief International’s livelihoods activities for submission to the donor(s) and other stakeholders, including a monthly internal status report and annual donor report;
  • Ensure high standards of accountability and compliance with Relief International’s financial policies and procedures;

 

  • Other duties as required to support the realisation of the agreed project objectives.

Person Specification

  • Professional experience: at least  3 years  combined  experience in the field of income generation, micro-credit or vocational education and experience managing livelihoods projects;
  • Education: University degree (BA/BSc) in Economics, Business, Management or other relevant field;
  • Project cycle: demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing;
  • Organisational skills: demonstrated experience in managing the work of project teams;
  • Inter-personal skills: demonstrated ability to persuade, network and negotiate;
  • Communication skills: demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, in Rakhine and English languages;
