The British Council is seeking to recruit a Communications Manager on a consultancy basis, for a contract lasting until July 2019.
For this consultancy post we are seeking local expert with a degree, preferably in communications, media or in another relevant area (such as economics, sociology, political sciences) combined with work experience in communications and knowledge management.
Myanmar and MyJustice Project
The British Council is working to deliver a legal development programme called MyJustice within Myanmar. This programme aims to improve access to justice and legal aid for the poor and vulnerable, develop legal capacity of justice sector professionals and strengthen selected rule of law institutions to better fulfil their mandates.
The programme has two specific objectives:
- To improve access to both formal and informal justice systems especially for vulnerable groups in 6 regions/states in Myanmar.
- To improve the functioning of institutions which support the Rule of Law in Myanmar.
- As the Communications Manager attached to this programme, you would be responsible to manage the strategy, planning, development and implementation of communications for the MyJustice programme. S/he is responsible for ensuring the programme’s impact, experience and expertise are effectively communicated and consistently presented, advocating the role and impact of the programme in making and influencing change in the justice sector (informal and formal) in Myanmar. S/he will contribute to the programme’s success by making communications a major contributor to improved stakeholder engagement.
- For this challenging role you will need to show extensive experience in the field of media and communications, preferably with work experience from an international development NGO. Experience of implementing communications plans, working with design partners and using IT packages will all be essential. Candidates will need fluent communication skills in English, with Myanmar language skills being a distinct advantage.
This is a consultancy requirement and not an opportunity for employment by British Council; this process will not follow the employment processes which British Council follows.
