Girls Get Equal Campaign Interns

  1. Background:

Plan International started working in Myanmar in 2008 in response to Cyclone Nargis. Plan International Myanmar today is implementing a range of development and humanitarian assistance programs benefitting children and young people in Rakhine, Kachin, Mandalay, and Ayeyarwaddy. In 2017, Plan International Myanmar supported over 103,000 children and young people, as well as over 100,000 community members.

Achieving gender equality, promoting gender justice, realizing girls’ rights and fostering an inclusive society are core objectives of Plan’s work as an organization dedicated to child rights and equality for girls. We ensure that our work on gender equality is mainstreamed and promoted across our programmes as well as human resource through the mechanism in place to support, monitor, assess and institutionalize organizational learning and reflection on mainstreaming on gender equality ad inclusion.

Plan International Myanmar is conducting Girls Get Equal campaign which is a social change campaign, envisioning a world where girls and young women, in all their diversity, are equally able to make decisions about their own lives and shape the world around them. The campaign will take 99 days and put girls and young people first, targeting the primary audience of young people aged 15-24 through different mobilizing activities. Plan International Myanmar has adopted a Gender-Transformative Roadmap and two-year action plan, which are designed to meet Plan Myanmar’s objective that every program be gender-transformative by 2022, fostering an organisational culture that embraces and exemplifies our commitment to gender equality, girls’ rights and inclusion, while supporting staff to adopt good practice, positive attitudes and principles of gender equality and inclusion.
