Humanitarian Programme Officer


Would you like to work with Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian interventions, with a focus on Kayin and other South-Eastern areas?


DanChurchAid (DCA) is starting a new project with focus on Disaster Preparedness and Risk Reduction in Kayin state. In times of emergencies - such as the current flooding - we also support local partners’ to mitigate the impact by Linking Relief and Rehabilitation to Development (LRRD) in other areas of Myanmar.

We are now looking for a talented and highly motivated person to join our team of Programme Officers. The objectives for the Humanitarian Programme Officer are:

  • To manage the work on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and humanitarian response with our partners in Myanmar with adherence to international standards and principles.
  • Strengthen coordination on DRR and humanitarian response from community led mechanisms to national level on emergency preparedness.
  • To ensure timely and adequate information, risk assessments and preparedness on disasters unfolding in Myanmar.
  • To support local partners in the implementation of projects and activities related to humanitarian work, including returning IDP’ and refugees.


The main tasks and responsibilities include: Networking and Co-ordination with other actors, e.g. the DRR working group. Capacity building with focus on humanitarian standards and cash transfers. In addition, project management and monitoring of the local partners. The position is located in Yangon, but extensive travelling can be expected, up to 2-3 weeks per month.

Requested qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of humanitarian experience and strong interest in DRR.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in teams: proactively and with initiative.
  • Good working knowledge English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work in Karen language is an advantage. Myanmar language is required.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel and Word).

The benefit package for the position includes competitive remuneration (salary range from 745.000 to 1.404.000 Kyats/monthly depending on education and level of experience) + other benefits. Starting date: As soon as possible.
