Plan International is an international child and youth development organization dedicated to promote the realization of children and young people’s rights, especially girl’s rights, in both development and humanitarian settings. Plan International in Myanmar is supporting a broad spectrum of initiatives designed to support integrated child development and youth empowerment outcomes that are strategically aligned with the national government’s priorities. Sectors of focus include: Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Child Protection, Education, Adolescent Development, Youth Economic Empowerment, Youth-Led Peace Building and Social Cohesion, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention among young people. 


Position:                                             Humanitarian Project Assistant (CPiE)

Accountable to:                                 Humanitarian Project Manager (CPiE)

Location:                                            Mrauk-U, Rakhine State (with at least 70% time spent in the field)

Assignment Type:                             Six months Contract with possible extension

Job background:   Plan International Myanmar is seeking a CPiE Project Assistant to support the implementation of project activities and ensure that technical human resources and capacity are in place. The CPiE Assistant will be responsible for supporting the quality implementation of CPiE activities to provide a protective environment for targeted children in selected villages in Minbya Township. The CPiE Assistant will focus on planning, implementation and monitoring of CPiE activities in collaboration and support from team members whilst conducting basic trainings to community mobilisers and caregivers in target villages. This is a full-time position based in Mrauk U with at least 70% of the time spent in the field.


Job purpose:  Support the planning, implementation and evaluation of child protection activities, including community-based child protection mechanisms as well as psychosocial and recreational activities for children; Maintain contact with community leaders and community mobilisers and organise trainings and meetings; Conduct basic trainings for CFS caregivers and community mobilisers on recreational and psychosocial support activities for children; Monitor project activities and write regular field visit reports; Comply with Plan's financial operation procedure for any financial related issues or work


Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in planning, implementing, monitoring of child protection in emergencies projects and preferably in working in community-based projects
  • Understanding of the Rakhine context and understanding of protection issues of conflict-affected children
  • Familiarity with and experience in applying with international humanitarian standards and principles – CPMS & SPHERE
  • Capacity to facilitate trainings and workshops for children and communities
  • Experience in working and collaborating with different stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel to the field frequently
  • Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team or independently, and meet deadlines
  • Strong team-building and facilitation skills
  • Command of MS Office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Citizen of Myanmar only
