Sectors of focus include: Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Child Protection, Education, Adolescent Development, Youth Economic Empowerment, Youth-Led Peace Building and Social Cohesion, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention among young people

Accountable to:                                Humanitarian Project Manager (CPiE)

Assignment Type:                             from starting date to 30th Jun 2020 (with possible extension)

Travel Percentage                             30%


Job background: The Humanitarian Project Officer - Child Protection in Emergencies - Case Management will be responsible for the quality implementation of CPiE –Case management activities to provide a protective environment for affected children in selected target areas with technical support and under the direct supervision by the Humanitarian Project Manager. The post holder will work closely with the CPiE team, service providers and other actors as necessary to ensure that timely and appropriate child protection case management and referral services are offered in the assigned area. He/she will be responsible for ensuring proper project implementation of case management activities in Minbya Township, Rakhine State. This is a full-time position based in Mrauk-U with at least 60% of the time spent in the field.


Job purpose:  Support designing and planning of child protection activities – with a focus on CP case management and referral, psychosocial support for children and close collaboration with CFS caregivers; Support the project manager in fulfilling technical and financial reporting requirements of the proposed project; Facilitate close coordination with partners, communities and other relevant stakeholders on project activities as needed; No direct financial reporting to Finance Officer and/or Manager needed.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Three to four years of work experience in planning, implementing and/or monitoring of child protection or protection projects and community mobilization
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in protection case management (protection, child protection or GBV) in humanitarian settings
  • Understanding of the Rakhine State context and understanding of protection issues of children in communities Rakhine State face
  • Knowledge of different forms of child abuse and familiarity with international humanitarian standards and principles, including Child Protection Minimum Standards for Humanitarian Action
  • Strong teambuilding, training, mentoring and facilitation skills
  • Experienced in project Monitoring and Evaluation and in reporting project progress
  • Computer literate and good command of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good English language skills desirable
  • Willingness to travel to remote and conflict-affected areas
  • Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team or independently, and meet deadlines
