The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international humanitarian organization founded in Denmark in 1956. DRC implements relief and development activities in more than 30 countries throughout the world, assisting more than 1.5 million people of different ethnicities and religions. DRC/DDG is a non-governmental, non-political and non-religious organization and for DRC/DDG, people’s right to a life with dignity is central to all that we do. DRC has been operating in Myanmar since May 2009 and in Rakhine State since 2010, responding to the humanitarian needs in the aftermath of the Cyclone Giri. DRC has recently expanded its programme providing shelter, WASH, NFIs, livelihood support and community assistance to the people affected by the June and October 2012 events in Rakhine State. DRC Myanmar in Rakhine State is funded by ECHO, SDC, DFAT, USAID and UN agencies, including UNHCR, UNICEF and UNFPA.

Procurement Assistant (1-Post)


Duty Station:                     DRC Maruk U Office

Report to:                           Logistics & Procurement Coordinator and Head of Base of Maruk U Office


Position Description

Under the direct supervision of the Procurement Supervisor, responsible for supporting the overall day-to-day Procurement related activities for the DRC Programme Field Offices based in Maruk U and Sittwe (from time to time).

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide support with procurement requests from the relevant Programme in the Field Offices adhering to DRC’s procurement procedures and guidelines;
  • Prepare all relevant DRC documentation and ensure adequate correct paperwork supporting the procurement processes are completed accurately;
  • Collect quotations from potential suppliers, follow up on purchases/contracts with suppliers as instructed by Procurement Supervisor;
  • Follow up on Purchase Requisition status and keep requester (s) abreast of estimated time of delivery or any changes that may affect or modify the pre-determined delivery conditions;
  • Keep the procurement tracker updated at all time;
  • Ensuring stock replenishment of office supplies, household items, etc., Recording and regular monitoring of stock items
  • Ensure responsible cash management flow for assigned procurements by Supervisor;
  • Maintain and update an effective filing system of procurement documents;
  • Provide timely information for Programme team for reporting purpose when requested;
  • Any other duties as assigned by Line Manger.


 Qualifications and minimum requirements:

  • At least 1 – 2years similar experience working in Supply Chain Management/Procurement;
  • Working experience with an INGO is preferred;
  • Ability to effectively communicate and foster good supplier/customer relations;
  • Ability to work well under minimum supervision and under pressure;
  • Result oriented minded.
  • Bachelor Degree or relevant Diploma in Logistics / Supply Chain Management;
  • A combination of valid work experience and evidence of training in Supply Chain Management /Logistics will also be considered
  • Fluency in Burmese and working knowledge of English. Additional local languages would be an asset.



  • Starting date of employment: June-2018.
  • Contract: Regular DRC staff contract, including a probation period of 3 months; with possible extension, pending funding.
  • Salary: Competitive salary according to DRC Myanmar salary scale. The Position is based at grade D within DRC's salary scale and salary level is based on the experience and capacity of the candidate.
