Job Advertisement for Youth and Adolescent Development Officer
Plan International is an international child and youth development organization dedicated to promote the realization of children and young people’s rights, especially girl’s rights, in both development and humanitarian settings. Plan International in Myanmar is supporting a broad spectrum of initiatives designed to support integrated child development and youth empowerment outcomes that are strategically aligned with the national government’s priorities. Sectors of focus include: Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Child Protection, Education, Adolescent Development, Youth Economic Empowerment, Youth-Led Peace Building and Social Cohesion, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention among young people.
Position: Youth and Adolescent Development Officer
Accountable to: Youth and Adolescent Development Manager
Location: Myitkyina, Kachin State
Assignment Type: 5 months with possible extension

Job background: KMSS in partnership with Plan International will implement an innovative and comprehensive project targeting adolescents and youth aged 15-24 in Kachin. The project will focus specifically on young people living in Myitkyina and Wai Maw Townships, and aims to reduce the vulnerabilities of young people living in urban- and camp settings. It has been demonstrated that adolescents and young people have particular vulnerabilities and needs that demand a tailored and comprehensive approach to ensure those vulnerabilities are reduced and needs are met. Through increased investments in adolescents and young people Kachin, healthy growth and development can be promoted.
Selected young people will benefit from a comprehensive curriculum and sessions on gender, life skills, work skills and vocational training. Placements in local businesses will familiarize young people with the work environment. With support and coaching from staff, young people will be enabled to become agents of change in their communities, through the formation of youth groups, community outreach and dialogue with peers and other adults.
Job purpose: under close supervision of the project manager, the project officer will contribute to the planning, implementation and coordination of project activities. The Officer will also provide direct coaching and support to selected adolescents and youth, and coordinate and communicate with a wide range of actors, including other faith-based organizations, youth groups, NGOs and community members. The Officer will be provided with technical support and guidance to fulfil the below responsibilities
Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Minimum of two to three years of relevant work experience• Experience working in development sector/ working with children/adolescents/youth •Advanced communication skills •Good computer skills • Citizen of Myanmar • Extensive experience assessing, building capacity, monitoring and cooperating with local NGOs • Good knowledge of community development in Myanmar • Experience in implementing donor-funded projects • Track record of participation, training, facilitation and awareness raising • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment • Strong team-building and facilitation skills • Excellent communication skills • Proficient in computer skills.
